Saturday 7 January 2012

Change for Equality: The appeals court in Mazandaran Province, has upheld a three year prison sentence for women’s rights and Campaign activist, Fereshteh Shirazi. The sentence was issued in preliminary court hearings by Judge Hassanzadeh in the northern city of Amol.

Fereshteh Shirazi is a women’s rights activist in the city of Amol, who was arrested on September 4, 2011 and has remained in prison since her arrest. This prison’s living conditions are extremely harsh and there is no distinction between prisoners, as such Fereshteh is housed with dangerous criminals.
