Narges Mohammadi Transferred To Hospital After Home Stormed by Security Officials Again

Change for Equality: According to Deutsche Welle following the nightly raid of the home of Nargess Mohammadi and Taghi Rahmani, a religious-nationalist political activist, Nargess Mohammadi was hospitalized. Security forces raided the home of this couple on February 9, 2011 and arrested Taghi Rahmani. During the raid, Nargess started to have convulsions due to induced stress and trauma of having her home raided in front of her two small children.

Nargess Mohammadi was arrested on June 11, 2010 following the disputed presidential election and was released on July 3, 2010. Because of the pressures she endured in prison, she became very ill and began suffering from convulsions. After her release she was hospitalized for one month. She continues to suffer from these problems and doctors have been unable to diagnose the cause or treat her condition fully. They continue to claim that it is due to nervous pressure endured during her imprisonment.

Taghi Rahmani, Nargess Mohammadi’s husband, is a political activists and analyst, who has spent a total of 17 years in prison, on various occasion between 1980 and 2002. He was also arrested for a short while after the disputed elections in June 2009.

Mohammadi, who won the international award of “Alexander foundation” in 2009, was arrested on 11th of June. On that night the guards entered Narges Mohammadi and Taghi Rahmani’s residence and after two hours inspection of their house arrested Narges Mohammadi. They arrested her while her two young children were witnessing her arrest. This time her children were witness to the arrest of their father. Mohammadi is also a member of the Human Rights Defenders Center, a human rights group headed by Shirin Ebadi, which was shut down by security forces in December 2008. Several of its members have been arrested since the presidential elections.
