![]() Court Hearing for Kaveh Kermanshahi to be HeldFriday 12 March 2010 Change for Equality: According to a report by the Kurdish Human Rights Watch (KHRW), an Iranian human rights organization, the court hearing of Kaveh Kermanshahi will soon be held. Farangis Davoodi, Kaveh’s mother explained to the KHRW news service that: “Mr. Mostafa Ahmadian the lawyer representing my son went to the Kermanshah courts on Wednesday. There he was informed that Kaveh would probably have a court hearing on Thursday March 12, or Saturday March 14, 2010.” Ms. Davoodi further explained that: “the charges pending against Kaveh are still not clear. I will meet with my son’s lawyer and report back on the details of this court hearing.” It should be noted that Kaveh Kermanshahi is an activist involved in the One Million Signatures Campaign in Kermanshah. He is also a member of the Kurdish Human Rights Watch. He was arrested on February 3, 2010, at his family home by plain clothes security officials. Kaveh’s contact with his family has been limited since his detention. Two days after his arrest he contacted his family by telephone. Finally after persistence by his mother, Farangis Davoodi, he was allowed a short visit of fifteen minutes with his family on March 3, 2010. The temporary arrest order for Kaveh was renewed on March 3, 2010. Kaveh’s family and friends remain worried about his situation and believe that his arrest is in relation to his peaceful exercise of freedom of speech, association and because of his tireless defense of human rights and women’s rights. |
