Court Hearing of Nasrin Sotoodeh Postponed

Change for Equality: The court date of Nasrin Sotoodeh in relation to her arrest on the 12th of June, 2008 in front of the Silk Road Gallery and the subsequent charges of disrupting public order and disobeying the orders of police brought against her was to take place on the 17th of May, but was postponed due to the absence of the prosecutor. Sotoodeh appeared in court with her two lawyers, Mina Jafari and Dr. Ismail Hadizadeh. Sotoodeh was arrested by security forces with eight other women’s rights activists in front of the Silk Road Gallery on June 12, 2008 as they were preparing to attend a conference commemorating the national day of solidarity of Iranian women. After spending several hours in detention all nine women were released on a personal guarantee.
