Change for Equality: The 8th of March, International Women’s Day, was celebrated by Campaign activists through a series of street activities, including the distribution of brochures and the Campaign’s booklet on the laws. Activists involved in the Campaign also used stickers commemorating and explaining the 8th of March, as a strategy for raising awareness among the public and for sharing the message of equality of men and women with the public. These stickers were pasted in public spaces in several different cities where they could easily be viewed and read by citizens. Additionally, Campaign activists made t-shirts with a logo on women and wore these t-shirts, which served as conversation starters with the public, in different cities. Despite all the difficulties with securing space for meetings and conferences, Campaign activists in different cities organized events commemorating March 8th. In Tehran, the members of the Arts Committee commemorated international women’s day by holding a poetry night in honor of women. Pooya Madadi, a member of the Campaign and a poet herself, served as the master of ceremonies, and used the opportunity to further introduce the Campaign to the poets and artists who participated in this event. The event organizers used the opportunity to also acknowledge the three women’s rights activists who remain in prison, Alieh Eghdamdoust, Ronak Safazadeh and Zeinab Bayazidi.

Some of the poets, artists, and writers participating in this event dedicated their poetry to women’s rights activists who had paid a high prices of imprisonment for achieving equality. Among the poets who participated in this event in honor of Iranian women and their peaceful struggle for legal equality were: Simin Behbahani, Maryam Hosseinzadeh, Ali Shah Molavi, Ray Ra Abbassi, Kabotar Arshadi, Maryam Khansari, Ali Ghanbari, Alireza Mojabi, Mehrnoush Ghorbanali, Pegah Ahmadi, Azadeh Zareian, Mojdeh Daghighi, Sena Naseri, Elham Malek Pour, Nahid Sarkeshi, Hoshyar Ansari Far, Solmaz Naraghi, Sarah Khalili, Vahid Aghajani, Eghbal Mozafari, Fatemeh Hassanpour, Shabnam Azar, Pooya Azizi, Alireza Behnam, Nasim Khosravi, Mona Mohammadzadeh, Shahab Eldin Sheikhi, and Behnaz Shekaryar.
