Jelve Javaheri Summoned by Revolutionary Courts

Change for Equality: Jelve Javaheri, women’s rights activist and a member of the Campaign was summoned to the Revolutionary Courts. Jelve was arrested on the charge of "actions against national security," in relation to her activities on the site of Change for Equality, the site of the One Million Signatures Campaign, on December 1, 2007 and spent one month in prison. Maryam Hosseinkhah was also arrested on similar charges on November 18, 2007. Both of these women’s rights activists were released on January 2, 2008 on bail in the form of a bank check guarantee in the amount of 5 million Tomans (roughtly $5500).

Javaheri was summoned by the 13th branch of the Revolutionary Courts for a trial in relation to this case. Her trial is scheduled for August 2, 2008.
